Since he was young, Brandon Cisse has studied Charles Woodson’s game film. Now the Packers rookie cornerback is wearing his Heisman Trophy number.

When Brandon Cisse pulls on his Green Bay Packers jersey this season, the No. 2 on his back carries more meaning than just a draft slot or a depth chart position. For the rookie cornerback, it's a tribute to one of the greatest defensive backs in NFL history: Charles Woodson.

Cisse, selected by the Packers in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, has been studying Woodson's game film since he was a kid. His father first introduced him to Woodson's highlights, and the impression stuck. "That plays a role into it definitely, for sure," Cisse said after his first rookie minicamp practice. "When you had the Rose Bowl, when you had the rose in his mouth with the 2. That's a picture I still have in my phone."

Before Woodson wore No. 21 during his legendary Packers tenure, he donned No. 2 as a Heisman Trophy-winning cornerback at Michigan. It's that version of Woodson—the versatile, game-changing playmaker—that Cisse has long admired. "Elite ball skills, obviously freakishly athletic, could do everything, super versatile, and just his mentality," Cisse said. "He changes games. So he's always one of my favorites to watch."

The Packers are hoping Cisse can channel some of that Woodson magic as he competes for a starting role opposite Keisean Nixon. At 5-foot-11¾ and a playing weight of 198 pounds, he brings the kind of size and athleticism that Green Bay covets. While his college production—just two interceptions in three years—doesn't yet scream "elite ball skills," the team believes his potential is significant.

For now, Cisse isn't getting ahead of himself. He's focused on learning from the veterans around him and acclimating to the NFL game. "It starts with taking and learning from the vets," he said. "Those guys have been in the league for a long time, and they're the guys that have experience. So trying to learn the ins and outs, sometimes it's just best to shut up and learn from the guys in front of you first."

It's a humble approach from a rookie who wears a number with big expectations attached. Whether Cisse can live up to the Woodson standard remains to be seen, but for Packers fans, the offseason is always a time for hope—and a No. 2 jersey that honors a legend is a great place to start.
