The Toronto Blue Jays lost another key pitcher to the injured list April 27, when right-hander Max Scherzer was placed on the 15-day IL with right forearm tendinitis and left ankle inflammation.
Scherzer, 41, was 1-3 with a 9.64 ERA in five starts this season for the defending American League champions.
Right-hander Chase Lee was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take Scherzer’s place on the Blue Jays’ active roster.
Scherzer joins Jose Berrios, Shane Bieber, Bowden Francis, Cody Ponce and Trey Yesavage on the Blue Jays’ injured list.
