The Toronto Blue Jays have some of the best talent in Major League Baseball, and one of those players, perhaps one of the more underrated guys in the league, is Dalton Varsho. Varsho, an elite outfielder who has proven throughout his career that he can go and get it with the best of them, would be a very intriguing trade candidate if the Blue Jays ever decided to move on from him.

Still relatively young at 29, the Wisconsin native has shown he can swing the bat at a decent level, despite some struggles, while also being a big-time plus defender, making him a valuable player for a contending roster.

For those reasons and more, it's now believed he could be available, given the 8-13 start in Toronto.

“Varsho's relative youth at 29, plus his incredibly high floor, should mean he's worth more in a trade than George Springer. Especially if the latter is not fully healthy.

“Even if his bat cools down, Varsho is a Gold Glove center fielder with solid speed on the bases. Springer is practically a full-time DH whose impact depends exclusively on how consistently he can generate loud contact,” Christopher Kline of FanSided wrote.

Moving on from really good players like Varsho would hurt in the short and long term, so I don't exactly think this is the ideal plan. However, if there's one thing to consider, it's that 2027 free agency timeline.

If the Blue Jays know they're going to lose Varsho or don't plan on extending him at the number he wants, moving on from him now is probably the better idea.
