Sheffield United head to Vicarage Road this Saturday for a Championship clash with Watford, a match that carries different weight for each side as the season winds down.

For the Hornets, a late surge into the playoff picture now seems a distant dream. A tough run of form, with just two points from their last five matches, has left them 11 points off the top six. However, they remain just three points behind their visitors, ensuring this fixture is far from a dead rubber.

The Blades, in contrast, are riding a wave of momentum after a dramatic comeback victory over Hull City last weekend. A late red card for former United man John Lundstram proved pivotal, allowing Chris Wilder's side to snatch all three points in the final ten minutes—a display of grit they'll want to replicate as they build towards a crucial summer.

Team news adds another layer to the contest. Watford may again be without full-backs Jeremy Ngakia and Marc Bola, while young talent Rocco Vata has seen a promising start hampered by injury. For United, the season is over for Tyrese Campbell, Michael Cooper, and Sam McCallum. All eyes, however, are on loanee Kalvin Phillips, who is in a race against time to feature again before returning to his parent club.

Ahead of the match, Blades manager Chris Wilder offered insight into the opposition, drawing on his own brief tenure in charge at Watford. "I managed there for 10 games, it was a great experience," Wilder recalled. "They possess a squad full of talented individuals. Inconsistency has perhaps been their downfall in recent seasons, but on their day, their attacking players can hurt any team."

Wilder confirmed his squad has no new fitness concerns and praised Phillips's professionalism during his recovery. "He's still battling on, which speaks volumes about his character and desire to play," Wilder added. "He's fully involved with the group every day, and there's a real collective want to see him back on the pitch before the end of the campaign."
