Beckett Grand is heating up at just the right time for Bemidji High School.
After a sluggish start to his sophomore campaign, the Lumberjacks' lone state qualifier from last season has found his groove on the course. Grand delivered a standout performance at the Detroit Lakes Northwest Classic, a two-day tournament stacked with top competition, finishing 10th individually with a combined score of 150 (3-over par). His steady play helped Bemidji secure sixth place as a team with a total of 617, just 26 strokes behind tournament champion Holy Family Catholic.
Grand didn't stop there. At Brainerd's Cragun's Legacy Courses on Monday, he fired a 74 to claim 19th place, leading Bemidji to a seventh-place team finish with a collective 302. That consistency is exactly what the Lumberjacks need as they gear up for the postseason push.
Drew Valley was right on Grand's heels in Detroit Lakes, posting a 153 to take 18th place. Axel Burlingame followed at 156 (25th), while Jackson Fogelson carded a 158 (32nd). Graham Fish (163, 48th) and Logan Brink (168, 63rd) rounded out the scoring for Bemidji.
In Brainerd, Fogelson matched Grand's strong play with a 76 (25th), while Brink shot a 76 (28th). Valley and Burlingame each turned in 77s to tie for 34th, and Fish added an 81 (tied for 51st).
With Grand leading the charge and the rest of the lineup tightening their scores, Bemidji is shaping up to be a dangerous team down the stretch. Whether it's the long drives or the clutch putts, this squad has the tools to make some noise in the coming weeks.
