The Bemidji State softball team's tough season continued on Sunday as they were swept by Concordia-St. Paul in a doubleheader, extending their losing streak to 11 games. The Beavers fell 7-0 in Game 1 and 12-4 in Game 2, leaving them searching for that elusive win before the season wraps up.
In the opening game, the Golden Bears struck early with a four-run second inning and added three more in the fourth to secure the shutout. Bemidji State pitcher Sydney Klusman battled through seven runs on nine hits, but the Beavers' offense managed just two hits of their own, unable to find any rhythm against CSP's pitching.
Game 2 started with promise for the Beavers, who jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to Lauren Beissel's two-run RBI single. But the momentum quickly shifted as Concordia-St. Paul answered with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the first, chasing starting pitcher Keira Lucero after just one-third of an inning. Lucero allowed four earned runs on three hits in the brief appearance.
The Beavers showed some fight in the fourth inning, scoring two more runs, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit as the Golden Bears cruised to the 12-4 victory. With a record of 10-41, Bemidji State will look to end the season on a high note when they travel to St. Cloud for a Sunday doubleheader against the Huskies.
