SPRINGFIELD–All good things must come to an end, including, Missouri State’s program record 17-game winning streak at home, this season.
The Bears (26-11) first loss at Hammons Field came in a 10-5 result in the series finale with Conference USA foe, Western Kentucky.
The Hilltoppers overcame a 5-3 deficit by exploding for five runs in the top of the 6th, and MO State never could recover.
MSU third baseman, Curry Sutherland cracked a pair of home runs in the losing effort. Both long balls were 2-run home runs over the left field fence. His last one, in the bottom of the 5th, gave the Bears a 5-3 edge, their last of the contest.
While MO State did lose the series finale, it managed to clinch the series, after back-to-back victories over the Hilltoppers on Friday and Saturday.
Missouri State will now hit the road for five straight games, including a rematch with Arkansas, on Tuesday, before traveling to Ruston, LA to face Conference USA opponent, Louisiana Tech for a weekend series, then wrap up the trip in St. Louis against St. Louis on April 28.
