With their second pick on day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have selected Sam Roush, a tight end from Stanford, with the 69th pick in the third round after a trade down from 60 with the Tennessee Titans.
Roush (6’6”, 257) projects to a Y tight end, and with Ben Johnson’s penchant for playing three tight ends, Roush should get plenty of action as a rookie. Both as a reserve, and also when the Bears go to 13 personnel. Last year’s number three tight end, Durham Smythe, played in all 17 games and in 25% of the offensive snaps.
“He’s big, tough, and sound as a blocker, and he’s a really smart kid, too. Picks up everything quickly,” an NFC personnel director said via NFL.com.
We’ll record an immediate reaction podcast about the selection, so check that out right here as soon as it publishes from our 2nd City Gridiron channels.
