Defensive end Cam Jordan said last month that it would be "phenomenal" if things came together for him to return to the Saints for a 16th season, but that has yet to happen and there haven't been many signs that the status quo in New Orleans is set to change.

As the NFL offseason continues to unfold, veteran defensive end Cam Jordan finds himself in an intriguing spot. The longtime Saint recently expressed that it would be "phenomenal" to return to New Orleans for a 16th season, but with no deal in sight and little indication of a change, the door may be opening for a potential move elsewhere.

Enter the Chicago Bears and their new defensive coordinator, Dennis Allen. The connection is obvious—Allen spent a decade with the Saints as both defensive coordinator and head coach before being let go during the 2024 season. Now leading the Bears' defense, Allen's unit hasn't added any new defensive ends this offseason, sparking speculation that a reunion with Jordan could be in the works.

But when asked directly about the possibility, Allen kept expectations in check. "I don’t know that there’s been a ton of discussion about [signing him]. We feel pretty good about where we’re at and what we have," Allen told the Chicago Sun-Times. "Yet you never know what opportunities might present themselves down the road."

It's a classic coach-speak answer, but the underlying message is clear: for now, Chicago is content with its current pass-rush options. That might raise some eyebrows given the Bears finished 22nd in the league with just 35 sacks last season—a number that certainly needs improvement if they hope to compete in a tough NFC North. Whether Jordan becomes part of that solution remains to be seen, but as Allen hinted, the offseason is long, and opportunities have a way of appearing when least expected.
