It's a rematch that fans have been waiting for! Wilson and Kutztown have both punched their tickets to Thursday's BCIAA championship game after impressive semifinal wins on Tuesday. The title clash is set for 6:30 p.m. at Lyons Field, and the energy is already electric.
Top-seeded Wilson took down fifth-seeded Hamburg 5-2 in a game that showcased both grit and opportunity. The Bulldogs (17-3) capitalized on four Hamburg errors, turning those miscues into five runs on seven hits. Caitlin Figarola led the charge, going 2 for 3 at the plate, while Leah Berkis and Ava Futrick each doubled and drove in a run. Maddy Snyder added a single and an RBI, and Ava Legath chipped in with a double. On the mound, starter Shannon Bratton earned the win with four solid innings, allowing four hits and striking out four. Legath came in for the save, pitching three innings and giving up two earned runs on four hits. For Hamburg (15-5), Norah Davey was a bright spot, going 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Wilson jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added three more in the fourth to go up 5-0 before Hamburg scored both of their runs in the fifth.
In the other semifinal, third-seeded Kutztown put on an offensive clinic, pounding out 13 hits in a 9-5 victory over second-seeded Fleetwood. The Cougars led by as many as eight runs, showing no signs of slowing down. Gabriella Parker was unstoppable, going 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Felicia Oldt also doubled and drove in two runs, while Ava Kutz and Paityn Ziegler each added two RBIs. Winning pitcher Savannah Follweiler was a force on both sides, striking out eight batters while also going 3 for 3 at the plate with a double. For Fleetwood (16-3), Lainee Guldner tried to keep her team in it, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
With both teams bringing their A-game, Thursday's championship is shaping up to be a classic. Whether you're rooting for the Bulldogs' balanced attack or the Cougars' explosive offense, one thing's for sure: you won't want to miss this showdown under the lights at Lyons Field.
