Bayern Munich are preparing to part ways with promising young midfielder Jonathan Asp Jensen when he returns from his loan spell at Grasshopper Club Zurich this summer.
The 20-year-old Danish talent has been turning heads in Switzerland, establishing himself as a key figure for the Swiss side since his move last August. With nine goals and five assists in 37 appearances, Asp Jensen has shown the kind of attacking flair that initially caught Bayern's eye when they signed him from FC Midtjylland in 2022.
However, according to German outlet Kicker, the competition for places in Bayern's star-studded midfield is simply too fierce for the youngster at this stage. The Bundesliga giants are now looking to cash in on the player, who still has a contract running until 2028.
There's a silver lining for Bayern fans, though: the club is reportedly considering including a buy-back clause in any potential transfer deal, keeping the door open for a future return if Asp Jensen continues to develop at his current rate.
Interestingly, the midfielder did make his senior debut for Bayern under Thomas Tuchel in May 2025, coming off the bench for a brief cameo. While that moment marked a milestone in his career, it seems the path to regular first-team football at the Allianz Arena remains blocked for now.
For a player who's still only 20 and already proving himself in European football, this could be the perfect opportunity to find a club where he can truly flourish as a starter.
