Bayern Munich is inching ever closer to winning a second Bundesliga title in a row when they take on Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena. The Bavarians had just kicked Real Madrid out of the Champions League, which set up a reunion with current Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain. The first leg is set for the end of the month.
Bayern heads into this match on 76 points, while Borussia Dortmund is on 64. If Bayern wins and Dortmund loses, Bayern are champions because the gap between the two teams would theoretically be 15 points (79 to 64). Yes, there are five matches left and if Bayern were to lose each one of them, their sheer goal difference (+78 to +31 before kickoff) is unlikely to be overhauled. Dortmund would need to win each remaining game by at least nine goals.
If Dortmund avoids defeat (which would put them at 65 points for a draw or on 67 points for a win), then all Bayern needs to do is to match the result of Die Schwarzgelben in their match against Freiburg. Basically, the gap between the two teams must be more than the maximum number of points that can be taken from the remaining matchdays.
