Bayern Munich is gearing up for a major squad overhaul this summer, with reports suggesting that as many as eight players could be shown the door at the Allianz Arena. The Bundesliga giants are looking to streamline their roster and free up funds for new additions, making this one of the most anticipated transfer windows in recent club history.
According to Sport Bild, seven players have been placed on the transfer list, with six of them currently out on loan. The list includes João Palhinha (Tottenham Hotspur), Bryan Zaragoza (AS Roma), Sacha Boey (Galatasaray), Daniel Peretz (Southampton), Arijon Ibrahimović (1. FC Heidenheim), and Alexander Nübel (VfB Stuttgart). Notably, four of those loan deals include purchase options, but it appears that only two—for Boey and Peretz—are likely to be activated.
In addition to the loanees, Bayern is reportedly ready to part ways with center-back Kim Min-jae. Despite the South Korean international recently stating he is content with his role as a substitute, his hefty salary and inconsistent performances have made him a prime candidate for sale. Another defensive option, Hiroki Itō, could also be allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrives, according to Sky Germany.
While many of these departures won't require direct replacements, the potential exits of Kim and Itō could leave gaps in the squad—especially given their importance as role players. However, selling some of these players may prove complicated. Kim, for example, is unlikely to attract suitors willing to match his massive wages, which could stall any potential move.
Meanwhile, across the English Channel, there's drama brewing at Manchester City. Jack Grealish has reportedly told the club he has no intention of returning to the Etihad if Pep Guardiola remains in charge beyond this season. The £100 million signing from Aston Villa in 2021 has fallen out of favor under Guardiola, and a summer exit seems increasingly likely. With Chelsea and other top clubs circling, the race for the midfielder's signature could be one of the summer's biggest storylines.
As the summer window approaches, both Bayern Munich and Manchester City are set for significant roster changes. Whether you're stocking up on new kits for the upcoming season or just keeping an eye on transfer rumors, this is shaping up to be a blockbuster summer in European football.
