Bayern Munich spoiled the farewell match of VfL Wolfsburg's legend Alexandra Popp on Thursday with a 4-0 victory to retain the women's German Cup. Popp is leaving Wolfsburg after 14 years to join Borussia Dortmund but she couldn't clinch her 14th Cup title (12th with Wolfsburg) as Bayern were too strong.

Bayern Munich delivered a commanding performance to retain the women's German Cup, defeating VfL Wolfsburg 4-0 in a match that marked the emotional farewell of Wolfsburg legend Alexandra Popp. The victory, secured on Thursday, added another trophy to Bayern's already impressive season after they clinched the Bundesliga title.

Popp, who has been the heart and soul of Wolfsburg for 14 years, was unable to add a 14th Cup title to her illustrious career—12 of which came with Wolfsburg. The 33-year-old is set to join Borussia Dortmund, but her final match for the club ended in disappointment as Bayern proved too strong from the start.

The game remained tightly contested until just before halftime, when Bayern were awarded a penalty after Lineth Beerensteyn fouled Momoko Tanikawa. Georgia Stanway stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick, giving the Bavarians a crucial lead. Bayern nearly doubled their advantage before the break, but Pernille Harder's effort was dramatically cleared off the line by Sarai Linder.

Harder wouldn't be denied for long. In the 59th minute, she rose above Janina Minge at the far post to head home Magdalena Eriksson's cross, putting Bayern firmly in control. The goal showcased the attacking depth that has made Bayern such a dominant force this season.

Tanikawa effectively sealed the victory in the 77th minute with a clinical finish, and Arianna Caruso added a fourth in the 84th to complete the rout. For Popp, who played the entire match, it was a bittersweet end to her Wolfsburg career. Her departure marks the end of an era for a club that has relied on her leadership, charisma, and genuine passion for the game—qualities that have defined Wolfsburg's identity even during challenging times.
