Manchester United are among the four ‘most genuine suitors’ in pursuit of Morgan Rogers as he eyes an Aston Villa departure this summer, along with Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Ben Jacobs, both Bayern Munich and Liverpool have privately made it clear that they do not plan to act on their interest for the foreseeable future, leaving four sides in the race.

Presumably, Rogers would want to test his resolve by plying his trade in the Champions League, which could well rule Chelsea out based on their dismal run of form.

It’s said that the 23-year-old starlet has ‘admiration’ for PSG boss Luis Enrique, and that he is ‘just as open’ to moving abroad as he is to staying in his home country.

United may try to use one factor to their advantage by utilising Rogers’ ties to Michael Carrick, whom he played under at Middlesbrough when really making a name for himself.

Of course, that only works if INEOS decide to appoint Carrick as United’s permanent manager.

In the meantime, it’s no surprise that the attacker is generating such interest across the continent.

He has continued pulling the strings under Unai Emery this term, with Villa now Europa League semi-finalists and looking a shoo-in to qualify for the UCL via a top-five league finish.

Across the two competitions, Rogers has scored 11 goals and contributed nine assists in 45 appearances.

The Halesowen-born whiz is also a 13-capped England international, so will be desperate to add to his tally by taking part in his first major international tournament at the World Cup in June.
