Sometimes, a baseball game isn't decided by a towering home run, but by the beautiful chaos that unfolds on the basepaths. That was the story for Claremore on Monday night, as a sequence of small events—a single, a couple of wild pitches, and a defensive miscue—culminated in Jaden Franco's game-winning dash home in the sixth inning.

That frantic play was the difference in a nail-biting 5-4 victory over district rival Pryor at Legendary Legion Field. For the Zebras, this win was especially sweet, marking only their second triumph over the Tigers since 2017 and snapping a long stretch of dominance by their opponents.

Claremore (17-7, 10-1 District 5A-3) showcased a complete team effort to secure this crucial win. The offense was sparked by multi-hit games from Brayden Floyd and Tyler Osgood, while the pitching staff weathered early storms. After starter Kellen Gaede battled for four innings, relievers Ryder Garrison and Brayden Floyd combined to silence Pryor's bats down the stretch.

The game was a back-and-forth affair from the start. Claremore jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first, only to see Pryor (21-3, 10-1) answer with a three-run second inning to take the lead. The Zebras clawed back to go up 4-3, but Pryor tied it again in the fourth on a wild pitch, setting the stage for the dramatic finish.

With the game knotted at 4-4 in the sixth, Osgood singled and Franco entered as a pinch-runner. After advancing to third on a pair of wild pitches, Franco seized his moment, sprinting home on a catcher's throwing error to put Claremore ahead for good.

Pryor didn't go quietly, putting two runners on in the seventh. But with the game on the line, Brayden Floyd induced a clutch game-ending double play to seal the hard-fought victory. The Zebras will look to carry this momentum into the series finale as they travel to Pryor on Tuesday.
