Bay FC forward Keira Barry has earned a landmark first senior call-up to the England squad, marking a significant step in her burgeoning career. The 20-year-old, who made the move from Manchester United to the United States in January, gets the nod for the crucial upcoming Women's World Cup qualifiers against Spain and Iceland.

Barry's promotion from the England Under-23s comes as a direct replacement for the injured Freya Godfrey. The London City Lionesses forward has withdrawn from the squad due to a shoulder injury and will focus on her recovery at club level.

Manager Sarina Wiegman has also welcomed back an experienced head, with Chelsea defender Niamh Charles returning to the fold following her own recovery from a dislocated shoulder. Charles, a key part of England's Euro-winning squad in Switzerland last year, has successfully reintegrated into Chelsea's lineup, featuring in their last three matches. Her return expands the squad to 24 players.

The team will convene at St George's Park this Tuesday to prepare for a massive double-header. First, they host Spain at a sold-out Wembley Stadium on April 14th, before traveling to face Iceland in Reykjavik on April 18th. These matches are pivotal as England looks to maintain a perfect start in their qualifying campaign for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
