Club Brugge teenage gem Jesse Bisiwu has emerged as a key target for FC Barcelona with an eye on the future.

Barcelona sporting director Deco and head of scouting Joao Amaral had travelled to Belgium a few months ago to monitor the 18-year-old attacker, following which the club accelerated their pursuit of the player.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, scouts from Barcelona attended the Youth League ‘final four’ in Switzerland, including the final between Club Brugge and Real Madrid at the Stade de la Tuiliere, which ended in a Madrid victory on penalties, to keep an eye on Bisiwu.

However, their observation of the young winger was limited due to his reduced involvement in the matches.

Interestingly, though, club sources indicated that the scouting effort was not solely focused on Bisiwu but formed part of a broader evaluation process.

The teenager initially caught the attention of Barcelona’s scouting department during the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, where he was identified as one of the standout players due to his pace and technical quality.

Since then, they have continued to monitor him closely and evaluate his performance. As mentioned earlier, there was a trip to Belgium by club executives, following which his agent publicly acknowledged the interest.

Bisiwu did well for Club Brugge’s U-19 side in the UEFA Youth League, finishing with three goals and an assist from eight games.

The Brugge academy forward had impressed in the quarter-finals against Atletico Madrid, scoring a standout goal in a 0-4 victory after playing just over 29 minutes.

His involvement decreased in later rounds, as he featured for only 23 minutes in the semi-final against SL Benfica before making a late, short cameo in the final against Real Madrid.
