Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has given fans a clear glimpse into the club's summer transfer strategy, confirming that discussions are already underway about key priorities for next season. While the futures of Marcus Rashford and Robert Lewandowski remain uncertain, Flick's comments suggest the squad planning is well advanced.
With the La Liga title already secured, Barcelona still have three league games left to play, starting with an away fixture against Alaves on Wednesday night. Flick has set his sights on a final flourish: "The objective is now to reach 100 points, and to do that, we will have to win the three games and play well."
Reports have consistently linked Barcelona with moves for a centre-forward and a centre-back this summer, with Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni and Manchester City's Julian Alvarez among the names mentioned. When asked if he had clarity on the club's transfer priorities, Flick was unequivocal: "Of course, and not just me. Deco and I, we spoke a lot about what we can do, and next season, but we have not finished that."
The German coach also emphasized the club's unique identity in the transfer market: "The important thing is the combination of La Masia with top world-class players, that's what we have here." This blend of academy talent and elite signings has been a hallmark of Barcelona's success, and Flick appears committed to continuing that tradition.
If the club does invest heavily in a new striker, it could spell the end for either Rashford or Lewandowski. The Polish veteran has admitted he is unsure about his future, while Rashford has expressed a desire to stay. Flick remained diplomatic when asked about both players: "We have to wait until the end of the season and we will see. Marcus gave us a lot, he's really good numbers. Robert, what can I say? Every club title I have won with him, so I'm really grateful. But we have to analyse it and we will see."
Defensive changes may also be on the horizon. Reports have suggested Barcelona would listen to offers for Jules Kounde, who was left out of the recent El Clasico victory. Flick acknowledged the difficulty of that decision: "It's early to talk about what will happen this season. It's really tough. Because Jules has given a lot for this club and this team, and this decision was really tough, and I know it was hard for him to accept. But he did it, and we are one team."
Similarly, left-back Alejandro Balde has seen his playing time reduced, adding another layer of intrigue to Barcelona's summer plans. As the season winds down, fans can expect more clarity on which stars will stay and which new faces will arrive at Camp Nou.
