FC Barcelona has once again blended football with pop culture, unveiling a special-edition kit for El Clásico featuring none other than American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo. The Blaugrana have turned their partnership with Spotify into a creative tradition, swapping the streaming giant's logo for iconic artists on their jersey during clashes with Real Madrid.
This season's lineup of musical guests has been star-studded. Earlier in the campaign, Ed Sheeran graced the Barcelona shirt during their 2-1 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu. Previous editions have featured global sensations like Drake, Rosalía, the Rolling Stones, Coldplay, and Travis Scott—who was on hand for Barcelona's thrilling 4-3 victory last May at Montjuïc.
Now, it's Olivia Rodrigo's turn. The new kit showcases her initials "OR" in a sleek, stylized font across the front of Barcelona's iconic home jersey. To make this release extra special, the club will produce just 1,899 limited-edition shirts, along with 22 exact replicas and 11 signed by Rodrigo herself. Fans can expect to see the jersey in action during the men's El Clásico on May 10th, while the women's team will debut it on May 6th. This collaboration aligns with Spotify's promotion for Rodrigo's upcoming third album, set to drop on July 12th. She becomes the eighth artist to feature on the Barcelona shirt since the partnership began.
Rodrigo shared her excitement on the club's official website: "Seeing 'OR' on a Barcelona jersey for El Clásico—I don't even know how to process that. It's been so fun seeing the jersey come to life and creating a full collection with Spotify and Barça. On top of that, getting to perform for the fans who've been listening since day one, in a city like Barcelona, is going to be so special. That's everything to me. I cannot wait to see them."
For Barcelona, the timing couldn't be more dramatic. They could wrap up the La Liga title this weekend if they beat Osasuna and Real Madrid stumble against Espanyol. If that doesn't happen, El Clásico itself could become the stage for a championship-clinching victory—making Rodrigo's debut on the shirt even more unforgettable.
