Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana claims 5-40 to help the Tigers beat Pakistan in a Test at home for the first time.

In a historic triumph for Bangladesh cricket, the Tigers roared to their first-ever home Test victory over Pakistan, sealing a commanding 104-run win in Mirpur. Fast bowler Nahid Rana was the hero, delivering a sensational spell of 5-40 that ripped through Pakistan's batting lineup on the final day at Shere Bangla National Stadium.

Set a challenging target of 268 runs to win, Pakistan's chase started promisingly at 68-2, but then crumbled spectacularly. In a thrilling final session, seven wickets tumbled as the visitors were bowled out for just 163. Rana's fiery pace proved too much to handle, while Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam chipped in with two wickets each to seal the deal.

This victory marks Bangladesh's third consecutive Test win over Pakistan, following their historic first series triumph on Pakistani soil in 2024. The win puts the Tigers 1-0 up in the two-match series, a testament to their growing prowess in the longest format of the game.

The foundation for this memorable win was laid earlier by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who smashed a brilliant century (101) in the first innings to guide Bangladesh to 413. Mominul Haque also played a crucial knock of 91, providing solid support. Pakistan's debutant opener Azan Awais, just 21 years old, responded with a gutsy century of his own (103) as the tourists replied with 386, trailing by just 27 runs.

After rain interrupted play on days three and four, Bangladesh declared their second innings at 240-9 before lunch on the final day. Shanto (87) and Mominul (56) once again starred with the bat, setting up an attacking declaration that gave their bowlers enough time to force a result. Pakistan's Abdullah Fazal fought valiantly with 66 runs, but lacked support from the other end as the Tigers' bowlers hunted in a pack.

"Very happy," said a beaming Shanto after the match. "Proud of all the guys, the way we played. We declared because we have a quality bowling attack. In these conditions, Rana, Taskin, and Taijul bowled really well—that's what I want from them."

The second and final Test of the series kicks off in Sylhet on Saturday, with Bangladesh looking to sweep the series and continue their dominance over Pakistan. For fans of the Tigers, this is a golden era of Test cricket—and the perfect time to gear up in your favorite Bangladesh cricket apparel to support the team's historic run!
