The Baltimore Orioles made a Trevor Rogers announcement on Tuesday.

The Baltimore Orioles have made a key roster move ahead of Tuesday's showdown with the New York Yankees, reinstating left-hander Trevor Rogers from the 15-day injured list. The announcement comes as the Orioles look to stabilize a starting rotation that has been a persistent challenge in 2026.

Baltimore invested heavily in their pitching staff during the offseason, acquiring right-hander Shane Baz from the Tampa Bay Rays and signing veterans Zach Eflin and Chris Bassitt in free agency. Despite these additions, the rotation has underperformed, and injuries have only compounded the issue. Rogers, who was placed on the IL in late April with a severe flu, is now ready to return after missing several weeks. In a corresponding move, right-hander Jose Espada was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.

Rogers' comeback is a critical moment for the Orioles. In 2025, the 28-year-old southpaw was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season, posting a stellar 1.81 ERA over 18 starts with 103 strikeouts in 109 2/3 innings. He emerged as the staff ace and one of the most reliable left-handers in the American League. This year, however, has been a different story. Through six starts, Rogers owns a 4.75 ERA—nearly triple his 2025 mark—with inconsistent command and difficulty pitching deep into games.

Now in his third season with Baltimore after spending his first four years with the Miami Marlins, Rogers is no stranger to high expectations. He earned an All-Star selection in 2021 but battled injuries in the following seasons before being traded to the Orioles. For Baltimore to turn their season around, they need Rogers to rediscover the ace-level form that made him a cornerstone of their rotation. Tuesday's game against the Yankees offers the perfect stage for a fresh start.
