Their back-and-forth stems from Rivers criticizing Green for suggesting his NBA career has been "hindered" by playing for Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

In the world of NBA banter, few exchanges heat up quite like a good old-fashioned rivalry between former players. This week, Austin Rivers fired back at Draymond Green after the Warriors star made some pointed comments about Rivers' career—and the back-and-forth has basketball fans buzzing.

It all started when Green suggested on his podcast that Rivers was "at his best" in high school, implying his NBA career never quite lived up to the hype. Rivers, never one to back down, took to Instagram with a three-minute video that left little room for misinterpretation. "First off, Draymond, we weren't the same players in high school," Rivers said. "I don't care about our numbers being similar. I did it at the national level, the top level. Hence why I got the Naismith [Prep Player of the Year] Award, and I got pretty much every award you can think of in high school."

Green had claimed they averaged the same points per game in high school—but the numbers tell a different story. According to official records, Green averaged 20 points per game as a senior at Saginaw High School, while Rivers put up a dominant 29.2 points per game at Winter Park High School. Rivers didn't stop there: "I was ranked No. 1, you were ranked, I don't know," he said, referencing Green's No. 36 ranking by ESPN.

Rivers was quick to acknowledge Green's success in college, calling him a "really good college basketball player," but he also pointed out a key difference: "It's hard to compare our collegiate careers since I was there for six months, something you could never do." Rivers then rattled off his own college accolades, including leading his team in scoring with 15.5 points per game, earning First-Team All-ACC honors, and being named ACC Rookie of the Year.

This exchange is more than just trash talk—it's a reminder of how competitive the journey to the NBA really is. Whether you're repping your favorite player's jersey or just love the drama of the game, moments like these keep the basketball world spinning. And if you're looking to channel that competitive spirit, there's no better way than with some fresh gear from the court.
