Arsenal’s women’s under-21s have won the Women’s Professional Games Academy U21 PGA Division One title for the second season running after sealing first place with a 5-0 win away to Durham last weekend.John Bitting’s side secured the league in emphatic fashion, leading 3-0 at half-time through goals from Abi Conway, Bryony Brodie and Mia Dixon before further strikes from Dixon and Conway completed the rout.

Arsenal had already laid the groundwork in the opening phase of the campaign, finishing top of the table with seven wins and one draw from eight matches.

That level continued into the second phase, where they currently sit top with 10 wins, two draws and two defeats, with two games still to play.

That record has left Arsenal six points clear of second-placed Manchester United, with a game in hand, and comes after a seven-match winning run that ultimately carried them to the title.

Arsenal have done all this with the youngest squad in the league.
