Arsenal have taken a proactive step to address their ongoing injury crisis by bringing in an external physiotherapist to conduct a full review, according to reports. The move signals a serious effort to get to the bottom of a problem that has plagued their season.

Spanish physio Joaquin Acedo, a known friend of manager Mikel Arteta, has been commissioned to investigate the club's injury record. Acedo has already been a familiar face around the squad in recent months, and his appointment comes amid reported tension behind the scenes over the number of key players missing crucial matches.

The numbers paint a stark picture. Transfermarkt data shows Arsenal players have missed a combined 232 games this season across 21 different squad members—ranking them sixth in the Premier League for games lost to injury. That's well above the league average of 184, and notably higher than title rivals Manchester City.

And those figures only account for league action. Factoring in the Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup, the toll is even more severe. One can't help but wonder how different Arteta's season might look if midfield trio Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, and Mikel Merino—along with starting right-back Jurrien Timber—had been available for the League Cup final.

As Arsenal head into the final month of the campaign, the treatment room remains busy. Merino and Timber are still sidelined, Kai Havertz was ruled out for the Fulham clash, and Odegaard's availability is uncertain after a midweek setback.

For a club chasing silverware, this review could be a game-changer. If Acedo's findings help streamline recovery protocols and reduce the number of significant injuries next season, it might be the most important signing Arsenal make this year.
