Arsenal have been dealt a major blow as Ben White has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a "significant medial knee ligament injury."

The 26-year-old defender picked up the injury during Sunday's hard-fought 2-1 win over West Ham United at the London Stadium. The news is a devastating setback for both the player and Mikel Arteta's title-chasing side.

White's injury isn't just a club concern—it also likely dashes his hopes of representing England at the upcoming World Cup. The versatile right-back had only recently fought his way back into Gareth Southgate's plans, earning a call-up during the last international break.

"Further to Sunday's match at West Ham United, subsequent assessments and specialist reviews have confirmed that Ben White has sustained a significant medial knee ligament injury, which will rule him out for the remainder of this season," Arsenal confirmed in an official statement.

"Our medical team are now managing Ben's recovery and rehabilitation programme, with everyone fully focused on supporting the aim of Ben being ready for the start of our pre-season preparations."

The timing couldn't be worse for Arsenal. With Jurrien Timber also currently sidelined, Arteta now faces a real headache at right-back during the crucial run-in. The Gunners boss will need to dig deep into his squad depth to cover for White's absence.

For fans, this is a tough pill to swallow—White has been a consistent performer this season, and his energy on the right flank will be sorely missed. The focus now shifts to his recovery, with everyone at the club hoping to see him back in action for pre-season.
