Liverpool fans, get ready for some positive news—midfield maestro Harvey Elliott is heading back to Anfield!

Last summer was one of the busiest transfer windows in Liverpool's history, with seven new signings, the early agreement for Giorgi Mamardashvili, and 11 first-team players departing either permanently or on loan. It marked the beginning of a new era under Michael Edwards, Richard Hughes, and Arne Slot, moving on from the legendary Jurgen Klopp. But things haven't gone as planned—the Reds have struggled this season, both in results and performances, leaving plenty of work to do to get back to title contention.

Slot knows change is needed, and he's just confirmed a key return. When Elliott swapped Liverpool for Aston Villa at the start of the season, many fans were disappointed. The boyhood Red had become a fan favorite at Anfield, but his desire for regular first-team minutes ahead of the World Cup was understandable. He joined Villa on loan with an option to buy that seemed almost certain to be triggered—but it's been a nightmare spell for the 23-year-old.

Elliott has managed just 283 minutes of action for Villa, and now he's coming back. Slot confirmed on Thursday that Elliott remains under contract with Liverpool and will rejoin the squad ahead of the 2026/27 season. "He went over there to get more playing time, but unfortunately that didn't happen," Slot said. "For such a talented player who did so well in the U21 Euros, you want a player like that to get more and more playing time."

Elliott will be hoping these words signal a chance to prove himself in pre-season. After a tough year, everyone will be rooting for him to get his career back on track at Liverpool.
