ALTOONA, Pa. – The District 6 Class 2A girls track and field championships delivered drama, resilience, and record-breaking performances Wednesday at Mansion Park Stadium, despite a two-hour weather delay that tested athletes' focus.

Four local athletes and relay teams claimed gold medals, headlined by Forest Hills senior Mylee Glessner, who shattered the meet record in the 110-meter hurdles with a blistering 14.93 seconds. The Seton Hill University signee's victory was especially sweet after a challenging 2025 season marked by health issues and a rib injury.

"Actually, it feels amazing," Glessner said. "I wasn't in the right state last year. This really built me back up to get back to where I was."

Forest Hills also celebrated sophomore Bella Ascherl's gold in the 3,200-meter run, where she broke away from Central senior Lanee Berkhimer at the three-quarter mark to win in 10:56.86. Ascherl's strategic surge showcased her growing confidence as she eyes even faster times.

Richland junior Natalia Mavridis continued her stellar season, winning the 800-meter run in 2:18.36. The versatile athlete also claimed district titles in the 400 and 3,200 earlier this year, proving she's a force across multiple distances.

In the 3,200-meter relay, Central Cambria's team of Delaney Snyder, Alaina Long, Makenzie Hite, and Paige Alexander dominated with a time of 9:30.39, winning by more than 20 seconds over Bellwood-Antis. The commanding performance highlighted the depth of local distance talent.

Bellwood-Antis captured the team title with 96 points, followed by Central Cambria (82), Forest Hills (78), Richland (76), and Tyrone (74). The top three finishers in each 2A event advance to the PIAA championships May 22-23 in Shippensburg, unless they meet the state-qualifying standard. All 3A event winners automatically move on.

Cambria Heights senior Rachel McClellan secured her spot at states with a state-qualifying time of 15.92 in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing fourth but earning the necessary mark to compete at the next level.

For athletes like Glessner and Ascherl, Wednesday's success is a testament to hard work and perseverance. "I'm definitely a lot stronger than I've ever been," Glessner said. "I've been working out so hard. It's obviously a miracle—I thank God every day for even running."
