With the second El Clásico of the La Liga season just hours away, all eyes are on Real Madrid as they prepare to face FC Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou. But this time, the pre-match buzz isn't just about tactics or star power—it's about a heated training ground clash that has sent shockwaves through the squad.

Earlier this week, a physical altercation between midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni left Valverde sidelined for 10 to 14 days. The incident has dominated headlines, and manager Álvaro Arbeloa addressed it head-on in his pre-match press conference, offering a calm and candid perspective.

"I have two things to say," Arbeloa began. "First, I'm very proud of the club's decisiveness, speed, and transparency. And second, the players have acknowledged their mistake, expressed regret, and apologized. That's enough for me. What I'm not going to do is publicly crucify them—they don't deserve it. Not after what they've shown me these past four months and years. They've proven they understand what it means to be a Real Madrid player, and I won't forget that."

Drawing on club legend Juanito as an example, Arbeloa added: "For me, Juanito is the epitome of a Real Madrid player. And did he never make mistakes? We're all proud of what he gave on the pitch—he understood this club, he gave his all. How could I not make mistakes? If there's one thing we love him for, it's that he made mistakes, just like anyone can."

Arbeloa made it clear that both players deserve a second chance. "Valverde and Tchouaméni deserve for us to move on, to give them the opportunity to keep fighting for this club. I'm very proud of them. I won't allow this to be used to question their professionalism. It's a lie that they aren't professional or that they've disrespected me—that's absolutely false. Just as it's a lie that some aren't playing because of personal issues with me."

As the drama unfolds off the pitch, Real Madrid will need to channel that intensity into a focused performance on it. El Clásico never lacks for storylines—and this one has added a new layer of grit and redemption.
