Baseball: Papermakers, Rockets Shine
Kimberly's Maddux Hermus and Pierson Hacker teamed up for a two-hit shutout, leading the Papermakers to a 3-0 Fox Valley Association win over Fond du Lac. Hermus was electric over six innings, allowing just two hits while walking one and striking out 11. Hacker closed the door with a perfect seventh, fanning two more. At the plate, Ryan Halfmann collected two hits and an RBI, while Jake Mau drove in two runs as Kimberly scratched across a run in the third and two more in the fourth.
Neenah's offense erupted in a blowout win over Oshkosh North, with Ethan Hellengreen leading the charge. Hellengreen went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs, while Levi Boivin added a homer and three RBIs. The Rockets pounded out 19 hits, scoring three in the first, 13 in the second, and four in the third. Gus Weinholzer doubled twice and also pitched three innings of one-hit ball, striking out seven.
Appleton East defeated Appleton West, with Jack Tennie collecting three hits—including a double—and driving in two runs. Matt Tank earned the win on the mound, tossing 3⅔ scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out two. Blake Dietzen went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Polar Bears.
