Speaking at a season-ending press conference, Davis expressed genuine enthusiasm for the young core in Washington, suggesting a foundation is being laid for a more competitive future.

"When the trade happened and I got here, I’ve said this place is not what people make it seem,” Davis said. He praised the organization's culture, emphasizing his desire to compete, learn, and have fun—elements he believes are present with the Wizards.

The past season was undeniably tough, with the team finishing 17-65. When directly questioned about his future, Davis leaned into his trademark humor, joking, “Yeah, I'm under contract. I love my money.” But his subsequent comments revealed a more serious investment in the team's direction.

Acquired in a major mid-season trade from Dallas, Davis, alongside fellow star Trae Young, represents a significant shift for the franchise. The 33-year-old big man seems particularly intrigued by the potential of Washington's youthful roster. "I know we have a lot of young guys," Davis noted, "but... how talented they are.
