A "monster offseason" has the Panthers angling for their first winning campaign since 2017.

The Carolina Panthers have been quietly assembling something special, and according to CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo, their "monster offseason" is the biggest reason for optimism heading into 2026. After years of rebuilding, the Panthers are angling for their first winning season since 2017—and it's all thanks to general manager Dan Morgan's masterful roster overhaul.

On paper, Carolina has improved as much as any team in the NFL over the past two years. This offseason, they made waves in free agency by adding playmakers like linebacker Devin Lloyd and pass rusher Jaelan Phillips. Then, during the draft, they snagged top offensive tackle prospect Monroe Freeling, defensive anchor Lee Hunter, and a new weapon for quarterback Bryce Young in wide receiver Chris Brazzell II.

The defensive front seven looks like the most improved unit on the roster. With Phillips bringing the heat off the edge—hopefully recapturing his early-career form in Miami—and Lloyd patrolling the middle, Carolina should field an above-average group. Second-round pick Hunter adds depth and power to the defensive line, giving the Panthers a formidable core.

Offensively, the Panthers are building around Young. Brazzell II adds another dynamic option at wide receiver, while Freeling and fifth-round center Sam Hecht address long-term needs on the offensive line. These moves should give Young the protection and targets he needs to thrive.

No roster is perfect, and the Panthers still have question marks at tight end, safety, and running back. But this team is built to compete in the modern NFL. With a balanced mix of veterans and young talent, Carolina has the firepower to finally break their eight-year streak of losing seasons. It's a new era in Charlotte, and the optimism is well-earned.
