The Los Angeles Angels community is mourning the loss of a franchise icon. The team announced on April 17 that longtime outfielder and 2002 World Series champion Garret Anderson has passed away at the age of 53.

Anderson was a cornerstone of the Angels for 15 seasons, becoming the franchise's all-time leader in hits, runs batted in, doubles, and total bases. His steady presence in the lineup and clutch hitting were instrumental in the Angels' magical 2002 championship run, a title that cemented his legacy in Anaheim.

In a statement, the Angels honored his profound impact: “Garret will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Angels fans for his professionalism, class, and loyalty throughout his career and beyond. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Anderson family.”

He is survived by his wife, Teresa, his daughters, Brianne and Bailey, and his son, Garret III.
