The Philadelphia Eagles always seem to be so close to imploding as a franchise, but make no mistake, they still win.

With the noise around Jalen Hurts at quarterback entering what feels like a defining season, there is a sense that a new contract for the Super Bowl winner might not be forthcoming. That ESPN article really damaged the perception, didn't it?

Still, the 2026 season looms as a huge one for the Eagles, and with A.J. Brown likely to be traded to the New England Patriots after June 1, that will be one less distraction for the franchise.

But CBS Sports' Mike Renner, when asked which team could take a quarterback early in the NFL Draft, his vote went to the Eagles.

"Given Jalen Hurts' escalating cap hits and the offense's struggles in two of the past three seasons, the Eagles might look to add depth to their quarterback room," Renner wrote. "Tanner McKee has been a great backup, but he's entering a contract year himself."

Of course, they could, and if they did, it wouldn't impact Hurts at all.

However, we know how quickly things can turn sour in Philadelphia, and if the offense and Hurts start off poorly, calls to bench Hurts will be heard.

Someone like Carson Beck or Garrett Nussmeier as a late-round pick might not be a bad idea, but they would be purely a developmental quarterback on the Eagles' roster, not Jalen's successor.

Still, we know how this NFL business works, and all it would take is a rough two or three-week stretch before some start asking when the Eagles should look at Beck or Nussmeier.

So, it could be rather problematic if the Eagles take one, but it could also be problematic if they don't.
