An in-depth look at Saturday’s opponents… Men's Team How can I watch City v Brentford on TV? We welcome Brentford to the Etihad Stadium at 17:30 (UK) on Saturday 9 April.50% off 2025/26 Home kitsA...

As Manchester City prepare to host Brentford at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday at 17:30 (UK), there's plenty at stake for both sides. City are riding a seven-game unbeaten streak after a gritty late comeback against Everton on Monday, and they sit just five points behind league leaders Arsenal with a game in hand. Every point counts in the title race, and the Blues will be eager to keep the pressure on.

But Brentford are no pushovers. The Bees are enjoying a historic campaign, sitting seventh in the table with 51 points from 35 matches. That puts them in genuine contention for European qualification for the very first time in their club history. However, their recent form has been mixed—they've won only one of their last five Premier League outings, though they've been tough to beat, losing just once in that stretch.

Manager Keith Andrews has found a settled formula, sticking with the same starting XI for three consecutive games in a 4-2-3-1 shape. Former Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been a revelation in his first full season as a regular number one, while the defensive line features Nathan Collins and Sepp van den Berg, with Michael Kayode on the right and Keane Lewis-Potter filling an unexpected role at left-back. In midfield, Mathias Jensen and Yehor Yarmoliuk pull the strings, supporting a creative trio of Mikkel Damsgaard, Kevin Schade, and Dango Ouattara, all feeding central striker Igor Thiago.

Andrews himself has been a standout story. After serving as an assistant at MK Dons, Sheffield United, and with the Republic of Ireland, he took over from Thomas Frank at Brentford and has impressed in his first managerial role. His focus on set pieces early on has paid dividends, and his 40% win rate (14 wins in 35 games) places him above many more experienced bosses in the division.

History favors City in this matchup. They've won three of their four home Premier League meetings with Brentford, the only exception being a 2-1 defeat back in November 2022. Overall, the two sides have met just nine times in the top flight, with City winning six and scoring 13 goals. Erling Haaland netted the only goal in their most recent encounter—and with the title race heating up, City will be hoping for more of the same from their star striker.
