Manchester United's 2-1 loss to Leeds United was a result that arguably flattered the Red Devils, highlighting ongoing squad challenges. While the goalkeeping position has been solidified by the composed performances of Senne Lammens since his arrival, it spells the end for Altay Bayındır's brief tenure at Old Trafford.

Bayındır began the season as United's number one, but a loss of confidence saw him replaced. He hasn't featured since Lammens' debut in October, and a move now seems imminent. According to reports from Turkey, Süper Lig giants Beşiktaş have reached a personal agreement with the 28-year-old Turkish international.

This represents a significant return to Istanbul for Bayındır, who previously starred for Beşiktaş's fierce rivals, Fenerbahçe, before his £4.3 million move to Manchester. Described as "top class" by captain Bruno Fernandes, the 6ft 6in goalkeeper is expected to finalize the transfer once the season concludes, with United unlikely to stand in his way.

Interestingly, this potential deal could open a dialogue between the two clubs beyond the goalkeeper. United are reportedly monitoring Beşiktaş's in-form South Korean striker, Oh Hyeon-gyu, who has made a blistering start to life in Turkey with nine goal contributions in just ten appearances. As United look to rebuild, this goalkeeper departure might just be the first move in a broader summer transfer strategy.
