Addison Kilmer's storied high school career reached its peak this week, cementing her legacy as one of the Lackawanna League's all-time greats. The 6-foot-2 Mountain View senior, who is committed to East Stroudsburg University, was named the Pennsylvania Sports Writers' Class 2A Player of the Year and a first-team all-state selection.
"I'm just super grateful," Kilmer said. "Obviously I've put a lot of work into basketball, and it's nice to see that hard work does pay off. It's just super cool." This marks her second Player of the Year honor and her third first-team all-state nod, a testament to her sustained dominance on the court.
Kilmer's final season was nothing short of spectacular. She led the entire Lackawanna League in scoring with 27.4 points per game, adding 12.6 rebounds and a staggering 127 blocks. Her all-around game was on full display with 55 three-pointers, 74 steals, and an 80% free-throw shooting clip. She powered the Lady Eagles to a 21-7 record, a division title, and a fourth consecutive District 2 championship.
She wasn't the only local star earning statewide recognition. In Class 4A, Valley View junior Cora Castellani and Scranton Prep sophomore Chloe Mamera were selected to the second-team all-state squad, highlighting the depth of talent in the region.
The District 2 presence was strong across all classifications. Wyoming Seminary junior Ella Stambaugh joined Kilmer on the Class 2A first team. Holy Redeemer, which made a deep run to the PIAA Class 3A final, saw senior McKenzie Chimock named to the second team and Bella Boylan to the third team. In Class 5A, Crestwood's dynamic duo of junior Jackie Gallagher (first team) and senior Keira Dougherty (second team) were honored, alongside Dallas senior Molly Walsh (second team). Hazleton Area junior Kaitlyn Bindas rounded out the first-team selections in Class 6A.
Adding to the local connection, junior Zya Small of Friends Central earned first-team honors on the non-PIAA all-state team for the second straight year. Small, a former Scranton High School standout, was the Times-Tribune Player of the Year as a freshman.
