The decision has finally arrived. Eric Musselman finally got the word on his USC star. Alijah Arenas turned away from the NBA draft, and he will return to a stacked USC Trojan roster. Everything that could go right for the Trojans this offseason has gone right so far.
Alijah Arenas had an up-and-down freshman season, but he showed flashes of being a star. In the month of February, he had 3 straight games with scoring outings of 29, 24, and 25 points. He looked like he was ready to enter his name among the best freshmen in college basketball. An injury set him back as long as a shooting slump to end the season.
Alijah Arenas finished the season averaging 14.1 points per game in 14 games. Seeing exactly what he was able to return with a torn achilles injury and a car crash. Having that elite stretch in February and managing to play 14 games was a spectacular outcome for his freshman season.
With a full offseason to prepare and train, Alijah Arenas can reach his full potential. Arenas can build off the highs he had last season this next season with USC. Last season, Arenas' supporting cast was not as consistent, and that put a lot of pressure on Arenas to lead the show. Now that will not be the case. Aremas has a phenomenal supporting cast, and he will get a chance to hone in on his potential NBA talent while helping lead USC to success next season.
