Formula 1 commentator Alex Jacques has heaped praise on Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad, saying the young driver "looks like he's been in F1 for years." The 18-year-old Briton made his grand prix debut at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, qualifying an impressive P9 and converting it into an eighth-place finish to score four points right out of the gate.

Four rounds into the 2026 season, Lindblad sits 12th in the drivers' standings—just two spots behind his more experienced teammate Liam Lawson. But it's not just his on-track performance turning heads. The teenager has also impressed with his mature, analytical approach in media sessions, showing a level of self-awareness rarely seen in a driver so young.

"Doesn't matter what regulation set we have, the team based in Faenza always comes out with a nice car that has a broad setup window," Jacques noted during an F1 season start debrief video. "And who they've got driving it—Liam Lawson's driving with a lot of confidence, and Arvid Lindblad looks like he's been in Formula 1 for years."

F1 journalist Lawrence Barretto echoed those sentiments, recalling conversations with Racing Bulls sporting director Alan Permane before the season. "He was like, the level of maturity that Arvid showed throughout the time he bedded in with that team really impressed him," Barretto said. "Obviously, you don't know how they'll perform until they get into an F1 car, but there was something about him that really stood out."

Barretto also highlighted Lindblad's refreshing honesty in the TV pen after races. "He's super self-critical. We get a few of those drivers through, but he's gone into quite a lot of depth, having only just got out of the car." For a rookie to combine raw speed with that kind of composure and reflection, it's no wonder the paddock is taking notice.
