Eintracht Frankfurt missed on a chance to go two points above Freiburg before Julian Schuster’s side play against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. However, they are still back in seventh place with the draw in Augsburg enough to put them ahead of the Europa League semi finalists on goal difference.

“We came here to win and get closer to our goal,” said Albert Riera after the game that saw Frankfurt drop points in successive weeks. “It wasn't our best first half, but we did better in the second. Compared to previous matches, it was the opposite. This time, we didn't start well and were significantly stronger after the break.

“We wanted to defend Augsburg's counter-attacking game, which is one of their strengths. We weren't always successful at that. In the second half, we also showed that we can transition well and have players for those moments. We need to find the right mix and balance.”

Riera always emphasize on training in his press conference appearances, and he once again mentioned the need to put more work ahead of games. “We've had a strong week of training and need another week like that with this attitude, atmosphere, and intensity. Everyone will be important in the last three games. We need the character that the team showed in the second half today.”

Eintracht Frankfurt will host HSV next week before ending the season with games against Champions League-bound teams Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart. Ritsu Doan, who scored the equalizing goal on Saturday, is unavailable for the game against struggling HSV due to accumulated yellow cards.
