In a thrilling 2-1 victory over Frankfurt, Albert Grönbaek emerged as the hero for HSV, putting the team on the brink of securing their Bundesliga status. The win was a massive relief for the club and their passionate fans, especially after a challenging few weeks.

"We needed this win," said the Danish attacker, who delivered a goal and an assist in just eight second-half minutes. "The past few weeks have been tough. We owed it to our incredible fans, who always stand by us, to give something back."

Grönbaek, who joined on loan from Rennes in January, had only played eight Serie A and Bundesliga games before this match. "I'm over the moon to score my first goal for HSV. It's a truly special moment. Sometimes you need a bit of luck, but in the end, every goal counts," he shared with a smile.

The 24-year-old's breakthrough performance came at a crucial time. After breaking the ice with his first goal involvement of the season, he turned provider for Fabio Vieira's winner just after the hour mark. "It's a joy to play alongside someone like Fabio Vieira," Grönbaek praised his teammate. "His game intelligence is exceptional. You can give him the ball in any situation, and he'll create something special."

The win was made even more impressive by the fact that Grönbaek had to adapt to an unfamiliar role. With Miro Muheim and William Mikelbrencis sidelined, head coach Merlin Polzin made the bold call to deploy the Dane as a left wingback. "After losing those two, we needed a solution that fit our style. The idea of playing Albert there came up, and he executed it perfectly," Polzin explained.

Grönbaek admitted it was a challenge: "I played that position for the first time today. I had to fight through a few situations, but my teammates were a huge help. Overall, I'm really proud of what we accomplished."

With the win, HSV all but secured safety. If St. Pauli fails to beat Mainz tomorrow, Merlin Polzin's men will officially confirm their place in next season's Bundesliga. For Grönbaek, this performance could be the key to making his loan move permanent—a reward for his perseverance and adaptability on the big stage.
