Borussia Dortmund has unveiled their home kit for the 2026/27 season, and it's a heartfelt tribute to the city's industrial roots and cultural landmarks. The standout feature is a bold graphic pattern woven into the classic BVB yellow, drawing inspiration from two iconic symbols: the Minister Stein coal mine, which will mark the 40th anniversary of its closure in 2027, and the Dortmunder U, celebrating its centenary this year. Together, they tell the story of a city that has continuously evolved, blending tradition with reinvention.
The textured design echoes the architectural forms of the mine and the urban skyline, bringing a sense of place and history to the pitch. "This jersey embodies Dortmund – its landmarks, history, and transformation are all captured in the design," says Kerstin Zerbe, Managing Director of BVB Merchandising GmbH. "When our players step onto the pitch wearing this jersey, they represent not just BVB and Dortmund, but also the spirit of tradition and change. It's never easy to translate that feeling into a design, but we worked closely with PUMA to achieve exactly that – giving our fans a true piece of Dortmund."
To launch the kit, PUMA and BVB have created an immersive AI-generated world called "Built Like Dortmund," which reimagines the city and club in a futuristic visual landscape. Players bring this industrial aesthetic to life, connecting the AI vision, the new kit, and BVB's identity into a unified story. For fans, this isn't just a jersey – it's a wearable piece of Dortmund's heritage, perfect for match day or everyday wear. The BVB home kit for the 2026/27 season is now available in the online shop.
