One big swing had the St. Raphael softball team down, but not out, heading to the seventh inning.

Trailing by two runs heading to the bottom of the seventh, a triple by Sophie Roman tied the game and one-out triple by Emma Martin brough her home and allowed St. Raphael to walk off with a 4-3 win over Smithfield on Monday night.

Things started just fine for the Saints, as a Martin single to center brought in Roman with the game’s first run in the bottom of the first.

But the Sentinels changed things quickly in the top of the third. With two runners on, Sophia Parrillo hit a gapper to right that found its way to the fence and allowed Parrillo to take a trip around the bases and give the Sentinels a 3-1 lead.

St. Raphael got one back in the bottom half of the inning, but the teams traded zeroes heading to the seventh. Izzy Sousa got the rally going with a leadoff single, then scored the tying run on Roman’s triple. After a groundout that kept Roman on third, Martin hit a blast to center that allowed Roman to come home with the winning run.

Martin had a big game at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBI and Roman finished 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Sousa went 3-for-3 with one run and threw all seven innings, allowing two hits and one earned runs while striking out 16.

Parrillo had the three RBI for Smithfield. Giannah Tutt was solid in the start for the Sentinels, spreading seven hits and one walk over four innings and giving up two runs in the loss.

Will Haggerty struck out 10 batters through six innings and allowed one run to lead the Quakers past the Oakers on Monday afternoon. Dustin Boudreau threw one inning of scoreless relief to end it.

The teams each scored a single run in the fourth inning to keep the contest close. But the sixth inning proved to be the difference. A two-out error allowed Moses Brown's Eli Quackenbush (2 for-4) to score the go-ahead run, and Anthony Fede followed with a single to right field, plating two more runs.

Haggerty was 2-for-4 at the plate in the Moses Brown win.

For Coventry, Griffin Frenze and Aiden Riley each recorded a hit, and Andrew Rapose took the loss after striking out five and allowing one earned run over six innings.

The Thunderbolts found themselves trailing by four runs after the first inning thanks to some timely hitting by the Lions.

But Cranston East starter Ed McClung weathered the early storm, then settled into a 6.1-inning performance with four strikeouts and no more runs allowed. Marcelo Acosta came on in the seventh and closed the door on the win.

Lincoln's batters came out swinging with Lucas Marshall, Brenan Robert and Caden Oldham all driving in first-inning runs. Robert paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

But the 'Bolts chipped away an halved the lead in the fourth when Josh Gillen singled home a run and Yadiel Ventura drew a bases-loaded walk. Then in the sixth, Anthony Pimental's bunt plates a run and, two batters later, McClung singles home two more to take the lead.

Tyler Chisholm led Cranston East , going 3-for-4 with a run scored, and Gillen was also 2-for-3, with an RBI, run scored and a walk.

The Hawks were flying high after seven first-inning runs and cruised to a 12-7 win over the Huskies.

Hendricken got off the bus to Bristol and started hitting, with Parker Boyd leading the game off with a double. The Hawks kept it going and sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring seven runs, and then added four more in the second to take an 11-1 lead.

Greg Fleury put up some big numbers for Hendricken, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Ryan Pierce finished 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Dylan Poloski and Edgar Rodriguez both scored twice in the win.
