The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly want a future first-round pick for A.J. Brown, but will the Patriots give it to them?

ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday all but guaranteed a Patriots-Brown trade will happen after June 1, and noted the "likely" deal probably would include a first-round pick in 2027 or 2028. However, while appearing on 98.5 The Sports Hub's "Felger & Mazz" on Tuesday, Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal offered a different take.

"As far as the trade compensation, what I was told is that the Patriots were around a second-round draft pick compensation for A.J. Brown," Bedard said. " ... I could see it being either a 2028 first-round pick, which I would be fine with."

Earlier in the week, Bedard advised the Patriots against trading for Brown. He also said selecting a receiver, like Denzel Boston, early in the 2026 NFL Draft likely would remove New England from the Brown sweepstakes.

How this story ends remains to be seen. But, at this point, all signs point toward Brown eventually joining the Patriots and becoming Drake Maye's top receiver.
