A'ja Wilson is already making history in the 2026 WNBA season.

The four-time MVP put on a dazzling performance Friday night, scoring a game-high 45 points to lead the Las Vegas Aces to a 101-94 victory over the Connecticut Sun. In doing so, Wilson set a new WNBA record with her fifth career 40-plus-point game, surpassing the mark she previously shared with legends Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi.

Wilson's 45-point night is the second-highest scoring total of her career, trailing only her historic 53-point outing in 2023. She now stands alone as the first player in WNBA history to record multiple games with 45 or more points—a testament to her elite scoring ability and consistency at the highest level.

Despite the historic achievement, Wilson remained humble after the game, crediting her patience and the team's system for her success.

"When you're able to find shots within our system, and just letting the flow of the game take over, that's big to me," Wilson said. "I want to be efficient. It's beautiful to rack up all these points, but to be efficient, that's what's key."

And efficient she was. Wilson shot an incredible 15-of-18 from the field, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. She also knocked down all 13 of her free throws, earning a high-five from teammate Chelsea Gray during the postgame press conference. Wilson finished with 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks—stuffing the stat sheet in every category.

Aces head coach Becky Hammon didn't hold back in her praise for the superstar forward.

"I mean, she's unbelievable," Hammon said. "The 3s, she just continues to sprinkle those in. She got a lot of early touches, got her going early, and then just rolling, just kind of riding her from there."

The win improves Las Vegas to 3-1 on the season, with the team wrapping up its four-game road trip against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. If Wilson's early-season form is any indication, the Aces are primed for another championship run—and their superstar is just getting started.
