When a living legend like A'ja Wilson's father gives your newest recruit a stamp of approval, you know you've done something right. And for South Carolina women's basketball head coach Dawn Staley, that's exactly the case with incoming freshman Jerzy Robinson.
The 6-foot-4 guard, ranked as the No. 6 recruit in the Class of 2026, hasn't even stepped foot on campus yet—but she's already making waves in the Gamecock community. Robinson was a special guest at a recent Foot Locker event in Columbia celebrating the release of Wilson's signature "A'Twos" Nike shoes, the second wave of the WNBA superstar's iconic line.
Wilson, who played for Staley from 2014 to 2018 before becoming the WNBA's first four-time MVP with the Las Vegas Aces, couldn't attend the hometown launch in person. But her father, Roscoe Wilson, was there—and he couldn't hide his excitement about Staley's latest addition.
"She has size, she can guard a three, a two, or a one so I think it's a brilliant addition," Roscoe Wilson said of Robinson. "And her shooting mobility, it's a piece of cake."
High praise from a man who knows championship-level talent when he sees it. Robinson's versatility on both ends of the floor—combining length with the ability to defend multiple positions and knock down shots from anywhere—makes her a perfect fit for Staley's system. For Gamecock fans eager to see the next wave of talent, this is a signing that could pay major dividends for years to come.
