The England international hasn’t featured after suffering an ACL injury before the start of the season, but he’s now back in full training.
Colwill came through 60 minutes for the under-21s last week unscathed, as he continues to build his fitness ahead of a first team return.
Chelsea have very much paid the price for not signing a replacement for Colwill, and have had a number of defensive issues this season.
The Blues haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league since January, and the constant chopping and changing of personnel at the back isn’t helping.
The return of Colwill will be huge boost, but it will take time for the 23-year-old to get back to full fitness and anywhere near his best form.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s game against Brighton, Rosenior was hopeful we’ll see Colwill this season, and revealed when he’ll next play.
“Very hopefully, yes, you can see him before the end of the season,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“Levi’s plan, it was a very low-level game, 60 minutes was a really, really good start for him. We want him to be involved in the next game on Saturday with the Under-21s as well, build him up, because it’s been a really bad injury that he’s come back from.
“So his rehab’s gone really well, he’s trained today, he makes a huge impression on the group. You can see his presence on the training pitch. I can’t wait to have him back in with the group.”

Chelsea are still in the market for a centre back and have been linked with Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, and Jan Paul van Hecke of Brighton.

The Blues need a starting quality centre back to come in and make an instant impact, whilst it’s possible two or three of the current crop will be moved in this summer.
