Chelsea's search for a new head coach is heating up, and one name keeps rising to the top of the list: Andoni Iraola. The Bournemouth boss has been making waves in the Premier League, and according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, he's dreaming big.
"Andoni Iraola has this dream to continue in the Premier League and manage a top club," Romano revealed on his YouTube channel. "This is why you see lots of reports on Chelsea and Iraola, United and Iraola. He'd love to manage a top club."
The Blues are back in the market for a manager after parting ways with Liam Rosenior just four months into his tenure. For now, Calum McFarlane is holding the fort as interim boss while the club's sporting directors work through a shortlist of seven to eight candidates.
Iraola is considered an early frontrunner, but he's not the only one in the frame. Marco Silva is also under consideration, while fans are dreaming of a blockbuster move for Xabi Alonso. The challenge? Manchester United are circling for Iraola too, and Chelsea have already made contact with his representatives.
David Ornstein reports that Chelsea are aiming to make a decision early this summer, and after recent missteps in the dugout, they simply can't afford to get this one wrong. Romano, however, cautions that nothing is set in stone yet: "On Chelsea, nothing decided. They've not decided on a new manager yet."
In brighter news for Blues supporters, Reece James and Levi Colwill are back in training and could feature in Monday's clash against Nottingham Forest. For a squad that's been battling injuries all season, that's a welcome boost.
As the head coach saga continues to unfold, one thing is clear: Iraola's ambition to lead a top Premier League club makes this a story worth watching. Whether he ends up in blue or red remains to be seen.
