Ryan Gravenberch has made a heartfelt plea to Liverpool supporters after the full-time boos that echoed around Anfield following Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea. The Dutch midfielder, who opened the scoring early on, believes the reaction was unjustified and has called for unity as the season reaches its critical final stretch.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Reds, who took an early lead against a Chelsea side that had lost six straight Premier League matches heading into the clash. But Liverpool let their advantage slip before halftime, and despite a spirited second-half press, they couldn't find a winner. The stalemate leaves Arne Slot's team dropping another two points in their push for Champions League football.

The boos at the final whistle were noticeable, though not as sharp as the reaction to young substitute Rio Ngumoha being taken off midway through the second half. For Gravenberch, the message was clear: the fans' support is needed now more than ever.

"To be honest, we need them behind us," the 22-year-old told TNT Sports. "I think what they do is, OK we don't win, but I think we don't really deserve this, you know. I think fans have to be behind us for 90 minutes, because I think it was second half, when they went behind us, we pressed Chelsea really well. Hopefully in the next few games they won't do the same."

Gravenberch's call for a united front comes as Liverpool prepare for crucial clashes against Aston Villa and Brentford, with Champions League qualification hanging in the balance. While match-going supporters have shown patience through a challenging campaign, the frustration is understandable. But as the Dutchman points out, a positive atmosphere could be the key to turning those draws into wins when it matters most.
