Didier Deschamps has opened up about the tough decision to leave Eduardo Camavinga out of France's final World Cup squad, bringing a disappointing end to what has been a frustrating season for the Real Madrid midfielder.

While teammates Aurelien Tchouameni and Kylian Mbappe celebrated their spots in the national team, Camavinga was one of the most notable omissions from Deschamps' roster. The French manager explained that the midfielder's physical condition and lack of continuity this season were key factors in the decision.

"Camavinga is finishing a difficult season; he played little due to injuries. He is still very young," Deschamps said. "I have to make choices and build the team squad. But he is entitled to be angry with me; I understand that."

The France boss emphasized that squad balance, match rhythm, and player preparation all played a role in the final selection. For Camavinga, a season disrupted by injuries and inconsistent performances ultimately cost him his place.

The 21-year-old entered the campaign with high hopes of becoming a key figure in Real Madrid's midfield, but things never fully clicked. Injuries repeatedly interrupted his momentum, preventing him from building any real rhythm. Even when fit, he struggled to secure a consistent starting role.

This season, Camavinga made 28 La Liga appearances but started only 16 matches, coming off the bench 12 times. More tellingly, he completed the full 90 minutes in just six of those league starts. Several costly mistakes during the campaign also increased scrutiny around his performances, leaving him on the outside looking in as France prepares for the World Cup.
